Job Overview
Child and adolescent therapists use a combination of clinical knowledge, therapeutic techniques, and interpersonal skills to help clients understand and manage mental health symptoms, addiction, and other behavioral health concerns.
Child and adolescent therapists appropriately assess, diagnose, create and implement individualized treatment plans. As well as evaluate clients’ progress and ensure that interventions lead to desired therapeutic outcomes.
The goal is to help clients decrease symptoms associated with mental health issues and learn effective & meaningful coping skills to improve their mental, physical, social, spiritual and emotional health.
Qualifications & Skills
· Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field
· Licensed or licensed eligible
· Minimum 2 years of experience in mental health counseling
· Strong desire to work with children, adolescents and families
· Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
· Comprehensive diagnostic and assessment skills
· Ability to maintain timely clinical records including clinical intake assessments, progress notes and treatment plans
· Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
· Ability to function as part of a team
· Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
· Knowledge of community resources and referral processes
· Strong understanding of evidenced based theories and practices
· Ability to develop and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions based on client needs & goals
· Ability to manage case files and confidential documentation
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Exceptional ethical and professional standards
· Empathy and compassion in client interactions
· Knowledge of play therapy, art therapy, and family therapy techniques
· Willingness to obtain a Registered Play Therapist credential a plus

Responsibilities & Duties
· Conduct client comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluation and risk assessment
· Evaluate, assess and diagnose client’s behavioral health condition(s)
· Assess potential crisis situations and develop appropriate interventions & support plan
· Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on the specific needs of the client
· Provide individual counseling services and family interventions as needed or requested
· Utilize evidence-based practices and interventions
· Monitor clients’ progress and adjust treatment plan as necessary
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with licensing standards, confidentiality laws and ethical guidelines
· Maintain case load & training log reports
· Educate clients and families about mental health conditions and coping strategies
· Advocate & coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure an integrative approach to client care
· Refer clients to community resources and services as needed or requested
· Stay informed about the latest research and developments in behavioral health
· Uphold professional & ethical standards of care
· Commit to professional development and continuing education/training to stay current with counseling practices
· Willingness to learn about addiction and addiction treatment
· Willing to work as part of a team
· Maintain active WV license & state required certifications
· Maintain professional liability insurance

Paraprofessionals practice professionalism by following agency expectations and the National Association of Social Workers’ Code of Ethics. Services are to be conducted in an effective, efficient, and accountable manner.
Services to be provided:
· Transportation for Drug Screens and Psych Evaluations
· Adult Skill Building
· Supervised Family Time One
· Scheduled In-Person Observation
· Unscheduled In-Person Observation
· Supervision for Temporary Lodging
· MDT Attendance

Qualifications & Skills:
· High School Diploma or GED
· Pass a background check through CPS/APS and WV Cares
· Clean driving record
· Valid Driver’s License, auto insurance, and vehicle registration

· Complete weekly invoices
· Build a rapport with BSS workers
· Send professional email updates
· Keep all documentation organized
· Print reports and turn them into the office in a timely manner
· Be familiar with community resources
· Must have a computer
· Complete required trainings
Schedule:
Paraprofessionals make their schedule based on the availability of all involved. Evening and Weekend availability is a must.
